Applying Lean-Agile Practices In The Public Sector With SAFe

The private sector has benefited from SAFe tools for a long time.  Lately, government agencies have also realized that they can build systems to serve people more efficiently by adopting Lean-Agile principles. However, the adoption of Lean-Agile best practices presents an altogether different set of challenges in the public sector context.

There are many complex issues in government programs such as legacy governance, organizational barrier, multi-vendor environments, etc. which make the transition challenging. SAFe version 5.1 includes special consideration for the government in the “SAFe for Government training” program.

This training program is focused on how to lay the foundation of Lean-Agile values, principles, and practices for government programs. The training helps strengthen the process and technical capabilities, which allow entities to create the systems or software that deliver government programs.

In this two-day training program, attendees will learn:

  • Principles and best practices of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
  • To execute and release value through Agile Release Trains
  • To Lead a Lean-Agile transformation within government programs
  • The Lean-Agile mindset and why it’s an essential foundation for the transformation
  • To build high-performing, multi-vendor Agile teams to deliver government programs
  • To manage technology investments in Lean Flow, acquire solutions with Agile Contracting, launch the program, and plan and deliver value using SAFe
